Homework

Homework has been a controversial topic for years. Data has shown that homework has little positive impact on student growth and achievement, particularly at the primary elementary school level. As both parents and teachers, we understand the stress that homework can cause parents and students, and the valuable time it takes away from family and play. It may also contribute to students having a negative attitude towards school and learning. Therefore, we will assign homework that is meaningful and relevant to 3rd graders, and should not take too much time to do. They should be reading at least 20 minutes a night, complete the monthly reading log and 3 activities that are included. Students should also complete two math pages per week that reinforce math concepts taught earlier in the week in class. They should also be practicing multiplication and division facts 0-10 at home, as well. The facts students should be working on will be communicated to you as we delve into each fact!

In addition, if your child is not completing assignments in class, you may see work coming home for them to complete and return to school.

Special Projects:

We will have a few special projects students will be working on/bringing  home through-out the year. Rubrics and time lines will be included, along with instructions for each project.

Parents FAQ

Can I bring in treats for my child's birthday?

Unfortunately, at this time, students are not allowed to share anything from home due to CoVid19 health regulations.

Students FAQ
Do we get to have snacks?
Yes! We have a snack break at 9:50. The snack must be healthy and can be eaten in five minutes.
Can we chew gum at school?
Sorry guys, gum chewing is not allowed in school, with the exception of special occasions with teacher or school permission.
How many recesses are in 3rd grade?
We have 2 recesses: one before lunch, and a quick recess or brain break in our classroom in the afternoon.

These boxes will be updated as questions arise for both students and parents through out the year.
